I love the outdoors and I love the little world of wonder that can be created within a garden space. Its where nature and humans unite to paint with flowers and trees.

This personal project was started to expand my art practice, and particularly from excitement for a new job opportunity.  I hope to continue to adjoin two things that make me feel like me, nature and art.

A delightfully unexpected garden we happened upon while taking a sunset walk in Sea Cliff on Long Island. After the arbor, it immediately drops off into steps to another grassy terrace and then down the cliff to the water. I captured a photo in the moment and later enjoyed sketching the scene.

It was already beautiful but I thought of what I might want to add to make it even more welcoming. So I added a wood slat bench to match the clean natural design of the arbor. And a set slate path to give flow to the area.
Oak tree sketch.
Their size, lifespan, and density makes them such comforting trees.
